The WATER WALKER was the concept of San Francisco architect David Grassi.

It's a lightweight, portable sailing catamaran and tent camper, packed with innovative ideas. We designed in in 1980.

  • Fully inflatable hulls.

  • Patented folding umbrella-like structure.

  • Patented hydrodynamic wheels for easy launching serve as leeboards.

  • With hulls removed it is a tent camping platform on land and is fitted with leveling legs.

  • Leave the hulls on, camp on the water!

  • Tent raised by single line - the main halyard.

  • Fully battened, boomless sail.

  • Cockpit seating support doubles as extra flotation for safety

Unfortunately, as we neared the end of the prototype testing phase, the financial backer lost a lawsuit on an unrelated project, had to file for bankruptcy, and the Water Walker never went into production.

So goes the way of all too many projects

                         Folded in its carrying bag.
